A Growing Region Requires a SMARTER, FASTER, BETTER Transit System

MARTA is reimagining and modernizing its bus network to bring our customers a SMARTER, FASTER, BETTER transit experience through the NextGen Bus Network. This once-in-a-generation system redesign will transform MARTA bus service across our region, adapting to the needs of a dynamically growing metro area.

The draft network will be presented to the public in December 2024 through February 2025. Public f
eedback received will help refine the proposed NextGen Bus Network with planned implementation in late 2025. MARTA’s goals for the NextGen Bus Network aim to create a Smarter, Faster, and Better bus system.

NextGen Bus Network: A Shared Vision for the Future

With guidance and input from our jurisdictional partners, customers, and members of the public, the MARTA Board of Directors has shaped a vision that reflects both the changing character of our service area and our commitment to making bus transit more appealing and accessible.

The NextGen Bus Network is our long-term vision for a more equitable, efficient transit system. It will make travel easier, improve access to essential services like jobs, education, and healthcare, and ultimately boost economic mobility, especially for transit-dependent populations. Before the NextGen Bus Network’s official launch, public input received will help shape the final design, ensuring the system meets the needs of the community and addresses the priorities of those who rely on transit the most.

Why Redesign the Bus Network?

Our region has experienced tremendous growth - almost constantly - and things have changed dramatically in the counties we serve.
